Scary text message story templates

Horror is the genre where the pause does the killing. Nothing supernatural has to happen on screen — a detail known too precisely, then silence, is enough.

Why scary chat stories spread

A creepy text story asks the viewer to imagine the room the character is sitting in, and imagination is scarier than any render. The strongest scripts escalate one notch per message: a stranger who knows your first name, then your street, then what you are wearing right now. End on the message that proves they are close — never on an explanation.

Pacing a horror template

Use the typing indicator sparingly and the pauses generously. A reply that arrives instantly after a threat reads as a joke; the same reply after four seconds of nothing reads as a lock clicking shut. The Telegram-style dark theme is the default here; the black iMessage look works when the story is a late-night phone in bed.

Do I need sound effects?

No. Export silent and add a sound in the app you post to — the trending eerie audio does more for reach than anything baked into the file.

Are these stories suitable for all audiences?

They are creepy, not graphic: no gore, no real people, no real numbers. Keep it that way — platforms reward suspense and punish anything that looks like a real threat.
