How it works
Everything hangs on one word: yes. The ending moves the danger from the girl to the friend who warned her, and sends you back to reread the opening.
How to make it yours
A full name in a formal tone is scarier than any "hi": keep that phrasing and invent a name that sounds real. The friend knows too much from her very first lines, and that has to stay, or the ending will feel pulled out of nowhere. The watch can become a laptop or a car screen. Give the last two lines to the friend, short and without an apology.
Every story here is fiction. Any resemblance to real people or events is coincidental.
